Toxic cosmetics in teenage girls
The cosmetics industry is not sparing anybody from the toxics chemicals in personal care products and our new report just proves the point even further.
We tested the blood of 20 American teenage girls and found an average of 13 hormone-altering cosmetics chemicals in their bodies! Yes, that would be 13 chemicals in the bodies that are still developing and experiencing rapid changes.
The 16 chemicals we detected come from 4 chemical families - phthalates, triclosan, parabens, and musks. The same chemicals are linked in other studies to cancer and hormone disruption.
W recruited diverse participants from around the country. On average, they use 17 personal care products every day, with 174 unique cosmetic ingredients. The study is the first focused look at teen exposures to chemicals of concern in cosmetics. To read more, check out our web site or search skin deep for safer alternatives to your cosmetics.
There are quite a few mineral makeup manufacturers that don't use bismuth oxychloride or parabens in their products. I have found some wonderful products on etsy with full disclosure of their ingredients.
I also did my homework on skin deep and the cosmetic database...honeybeegardens mascara is safe and works like a charm! It never irritates my eyes and doesn't have a chemical smell.
i use a lot of different mineral make-ups everyday....i have lord knows how much caked on my face every morning before school. I have tried many different types of face cleansers and hardly any of them ever work...
i don't know if it's because of how much make-up i put on or if it's just the cleanser itself not working.
i think there is a specific ingredient that helps get make-up off...i don't think it's alcohol either. I'm a junior in high school....can somebody help me out please???
this a very interesting dialogue i don't think i've ever listened in on transit people going on...it is a good idea to try to avoid getting too personal this can be done by abstracting comments. in legislative procedure its done by not saying the person's name directly, or avoiding 2nd person completely. the best comment for me was just try it don't study it. even though i think muni already dumped...
